"A minimum-wage worker would have to work 110 hours a week to afford a one-bedroom apartment in Charleston/North Charleston. The normal work week is 40 hours. Charleston needs decent, affordable housing now more than ever.

A Habitat home is more than just a decent place to live or a roof over a family's head. A safe, affordable home provides stability for children to go to the same school, increases disposable income due to lower maintenance and utility costs, and helps families build wealth through equity.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. The program seeks to encourage women volunteers to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity. All money raised will be used to help get members of our community into their forever homes.

The new homes will be the center of their families' world – where their children will learn to ride bikes, plant gardens, and have cookouts with the neighbors. Someday, those children may choose to raise their own families there, extending homeownership and far less poverty to future generations. At Charleston Habitat for Humanity, we know that we alone cannot end poverty housing. But with your help, we can change the reality for future generations in the Charleston area. We hope you'll support our mission and help us empower future Habitat homeowners with a financial gift today!"
